# Tchulture: We are our stories

## Culture belongs to everyone. 

"Tchulture" in guernésiais, "Culture" in French, is rooted in the Latin cultura (colo, colere), which means 'care', and the French colere which means 'till the ground', to "work the soil." 

## A place for island stories. 

Celebrating unsung connections between the islands and the closest land, through the shared stories and languages they were told in. 

## From the islands to the land

...to the rue de Guernesey in Carteret or rue de Sercq in St Malo to the *Côte des Isles,* the coast named for the islands. Up the river Trieux, marked out by a Guernsey man to the Brittany town of Pontrieux, aboard a replica 19th-Century Guernsey boat sailing between the islands and Normandy for 30 years, to the 300 million French-speakers around the world who *can* speak a word of Sarkese...
